A Toyota Motor Company spokesperson says reports from Monday afternoon about impending plant shutdowns were not entirely accurate.
Due to a shortage of parts from Japan, the Toyota Motor Company will shut down its North American factories.
Spokesperson Mike Goss says the shutdowns will likely begin this month and last until earthquake-damaged plants can resume operations.
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels’s office has released his travel plans for an upcoming trip to China and Japan. Daniels and his companions will spend much of their time focusing on economic development.
A production line that makes Toyota Camrys and Avalons in Georgetown, Kentucky will shut down one day later this month because of lagging sales of the models. About 2,500 people work on the line.
