The president of the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville is stepping down.
Greg Roberts took the job in 2008. He plans to leave the center at the end of June to pursue a career in education and public policy.
The traveling display was put together by Nicholasville resident Ron Spriggs. The Air Force veteran thought the Air Force Museum’s Tuskegee Airmen display did not do the troops justice. He began building a collection of artifacts for his own display, and Margaret Plattner with the Department of Veterans Affairs says most of them have been brought to Louisville.
Activities include a Kentucky Opera performance and a meet-and-greet with Earl Lloyd, the first African -American to play in the NBA.
The project is aimed at teaching children how learn about diversity by building gardens with plants from different countries
Today from noon until 5:00pm, the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville will mark the historic anniversary with a series of special events.
