University of Louisville Athletic Department officials last week agreed to terminate the leases and return all funds paid, according to a Dismas news release.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on October 10. The arena doors will be opened for free public tours on October 19 and 20th. There will also be a $100 per ticket gala for three thousand people featuring the Louisville Orchestra.
The head of construction for Louisville’s new downtown arena says the project has presented some unique challenges.
The Louisville-based band My Morning Jacket announced today it will perform at the new KFC Yum! Center this fall. My Morning Jacket will perform at the new arena Oct. 29 with the Louisville Youth Orchestra, with some of the proceeds going to the organization.

The KFC Yum Center will open in about four months, and a proposed public art project for the arena has not yet been announced. But officials say the Arena Authority could soon unveil a concept for art that will be installed in the arena’s concourse.
