“I’ve watched a ton of Ohio State tape. There are times I’ve watched the tape and I go ‘oh my goodness.’ They’re really talented, they play to their strengths, they’re very skilled, they shoot, they bounce, they’ve got great strength, they’ve got size. I mean they’re really a terrific basketball team,” UK Coach John Calipari said Thursday.
Ohio State defeated George Mason 98-66 Sunday to advance to the Sweet 16. The Buckeyes are the tournament’s overall number one seed. Kentucky, a number four seed, advanced Saturday with a 71-63 victory over West Virginia.
Led by Brandon Knight’s 30 points, UK overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to eliminate the Mountaineers in an East Regional third round game in Tampa, Florida.
The Cards face Morehead State Thursday at 1:40pm Eastern time. Kentucky also opens tournament play Thursday; the Wildcats face Princeton at approximately 2:45pm in Tampa, Florida.
Fourth-seeded Kentucky opens play Saturday in Albuquerque, taking on Hampton. Louisville, a number seven seed, meets Vanderbilt Sunday in opening round play in Cincinnati.
The fourth-seeded Louisville Cards and number 13 Morehead State Eagles will square off Thursday in the Southwest Region in Denver. The Kentucky Wildcats also open play Thursday. UK is seeded fourth in the East Region and will play Princeton—a 13 seed—in Tampa, Florida.
The Kentucky Wildcats defeated Creighton 65-63 Monday night in Omaha to advance to the quarterfinal round of the mens’ college basketball National Invitation Tournament. The Wildcats will face Notre Dame Wednesday at 7:00pm.
The Louisville Cardinals have been named the number one overall seed in the men’s NCAA basketball tournament. The three other number one seeds are Pittsburgh, North Carolina and Connecticut.
