School Bus Accident in Southwest Louisville; Black Ice on I-64

Updated at 10:38 am

A spokesperson for Jefferson County Public Schools says the four students taken to the hospital after this morning’s school bus accident were transported as a precaution.

Another vehicle allegedly ran a red light at Greenbelt Highway and Greenwood Road in southwest Louisville and struck bus No. 9919, which was bound for Frost Middle School. Twelve students were on board and four complained of neck and back pain after the collission. They were taken to the hospital while the rest were taken to school.

The accident has been cleared. Previous reports said 50 students were on the bus at the time of the accident. A JCPS spokeswoman says that number was an estimate, and the bus was only carrying 12 students, as the final pickups had not yet been made.

There are also reports of black ice on Interstate 64 eastbound between 9th Street and 22nd Street. Salt trucks have been called in, but there are a number of accidents.
