A flash flood warning has also been issued for the region.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather warning this morning for the Louisville area.
Residents should expect heavy rain, thunderstorms and possible hail throughout the area. The storms are expected to continue until 8:30 am.
Some outages have been reported by Louisville Gas and Electric, mostly in the southwest Louisville region.
