About two-thousand job openings will be featured at a career expo tomorrow.
Louisville Metro Government and the Louisville Urban League are holding the career expo. Urban League Workforce Development Director Juanita Sands says it was a little difficult to find 67 area employers to participate.
“It was a little more challenging this year than it has been in previous years, just based on the economy,” says Sands. “I mean, the unemployment rate for Jefferson County is at 11.2%, and I think there’s still a slowdown in hiring.”
Sands says 1,400 of the 2,000 job openings are civilian positions opening up in the next six to twelve months at Ft. Knox – because of the base realignment project there.
Thirty-five-hundred people attended the career expo last year. It’s set for 10am-4pm on Wednesday at the downtown convention center.
