Kentuckians who want to change their political party affiliation before next year’s May primary election must do so by December 31st.
Les Fugate of the Secretary of State’s office says the deadline also affects candidates who wish to switch their party affiliation and run in their new party’s primary.
“So, it’s important that you go to vote.ky.gov/register. You can get a voter registration card there. Print it out and you can either mail it in or take it to your local county clerk’s office. If you are mailing it, it just needs to be postmarked by the 31st. But if you’re dropping if off, it will need to be received by the 31st, Fugate said.
The May 18th primary will feature a U.S. Senate race, along with congressional, legislative and local races.
