The Louisville Metro Department of Health and Wellness has unveiled a new, 40-foot mobile dental health unit.
Department Director Dr. Adewale Troutman says the unit will make stops at at clinics on Dixie Highway, in Middletown and Newburg, and a still undetermined location in west Louisville.
It comes equipped with two dental chairs and digital imaging capability and will be staffed with one dentist, two dental assistants and a driver who will double as a dental clerk.
“During its first year of operation, we expect to serve approximately 25-hundred patients with this new unit,” Troutman said at a Monday press conference.
The health department already has another mobile unit that offers services such as immunizations and dental screenings.
The vehicle was purchased with federal funds secured by Congressman John Yarmuth.
