Our Lady of Peace Psychiatric Hospital in Louisville opened two new facilities today. The two-point-one million dollar project built two Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities. Assistant Vice President Jennie Hulette says the program is designed for patients aged 12-to-17.
“We’re taking care of kids who have a psychiatric illness and another, neurological or developmental disability, it may be autism, it may be mental retardation, it may be a brain injury, so those are kids that have really struggled, and as much as Kentucky wants to take care of those kids, there just haven’t been enough placement at this level of care for those kids to go to,” says Hulette.
The two facilities will serve as a transition between hospitals and home or other residential living.
