The 16th annual AIDS Walk will be held Sunday in downtown Louisville.
Organizer Brad Hampton this is Kentucky’s largest annual HIV/AIDS fundraising and awareness event, but contributions have dropped off by more than 40% since 2001. Meanwhile, the number of H-I-V/AIDS patients has sharply increased.
“We have had remarkable success with medical treatment and medications that have helped people that are living with HIV/AIDS live longer, some people but that also means there’s a growing need for the services we provide,” Hampton said.
The AIDS Walk and related activities begin at 3:00pm Sunday on the Belvedere.
