McCain Speaks At NRA Convention

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain visited Kentucky to address National Rifle Association’s annual convention.

An ad in the Courier-Journal placed from by the American Hunters and Shooters Association urged NRA members to ask McCain to clarify his stance on background checks at gun shows.

McCain acknowledged his disagreements with the NRA, but attempted to make peace.

“I’ve supported efforts to have NICS background checks applied at gun sales at gun shows,” said McCain. “I recognize. I recognize very well that gun shows are enjoyed by millions of law-abiding Americans. I do not support efforts by those who seek to regulate them out of existence.”

McCain also attacked his Democratic opponents Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for their support of gun control laws. The Arizona Senator did not mention Kentucky’s primary, which is Tuesday.
