Cards Resume NCAA Tournament Play Thursday

The Louisville Cards return to the court tomorrow in the Sweet Sixteen round of the men’s NCAA Division One basketball tournament.

Coach Rick Pitino’s fourth-seeded team faces number one seed Michigan State in a West Region semifinal in Phoenix. Both teams like to play a fast-paced game.

“We’ve been having an awesome time, just a lot of fun, and that’s what really college basketball is all about this time year is making sure your have a lot of fun for your guys so they have a lifetime experience. So we’re going to run with them,” Pitino said today.

Tipoff is 7:47pm tomorrow. Marquette and Florida face off in the other West Region game.

The top-seeded Kentucky Wildcats return to action Friday in the South Region in Atlanta. UK takes on Indiana at 9:45pm.

NCAA: U of L Women Eliminated

The Louisville Cards have been eliminated from the women’s NCAA basketball tournament.

The seventh-seeded Cards fell to number two seed Maryland 72-68 tonight in a second round game in College Park, Maryland.

U of L finishes the season with a 23-10 record. Maryland advances to the tournament’s Sweet Sixteen round in Raleigh, North Carolina.

College Basketball: U of L To Face Cincinnati For Big East Tournament Title

In college basketball, the Louisville Cards have advanced the championship game of the men’s Big East Tournament in New York City.

U of L beat Notre Dame 64-50 tonight to reach the final. The Cards will take on Cincinnati at 9:00pm Saturday night in Madison Square Garden. The Bearcats made it to the final with a victory over top-seeded Syracuse.

In the Southeastern Conference Tournament in New Orleans, the Kentucky Wildcats advanced to the semifinal round with a 60-51 victory over Louisiana State. UK will take on Florida at 1:00pm Saturday.

Indiana was eliminated from the Big Ten Tournament today, losing 79-71 to Wisconsin.
