Men’s College Basketball Tournaments Underway; U of L In Action Tonight

The men’s college basketball regular season is over and conference tournaments are underway this week.

The Louisville Cardinals open play tonight (Wed) in the Big East Tournament in New York City. The seventh-seeded Cards take on number ten seed Seton Hall at 7:00pm.

The winner of tonight’s game will take on second-seeded Marquette tomorrow evening.

Kentucky begins play Friday in the Southeastern Conference Tournament in New Orleans. The top-seeded Wildcats will face either Louisiana State or Arkansas Friday afternoon at 1:00pm.

The Indiana Hoosiers take the court tomorrow in the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. Fifth-seeded IU faces Penn State at about 2:00pm.

The men’s Division One NCAA tournament pairings will be announced Sunday. Western Kentucky and Murray State are both guaranteed a spot after winning their conference tournaments this week.

The men’s NCAA Division Two tournament begins Sunday. Louisville’s Bellarmine Knights are the defending national champions.

Cards Fall Short In Big East Tournament Title Game

The University of Louisville men’s basketball team fell to Connecticut 69-66 in the Big East Tournament title game Saturday night in New York City.

The win gives Connecticut an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament next week.    U of L is expected to receive an at-large bid when the pairings are announced Sunday evening.

The Kentucky Wildcats will play Florida Sunday for the Southeastern Conference Tournament title.   Tipoff is 1:00pm in Atlanta.

U of L, UK Advance In Conference Tournaments; IU Falls

The University of Louisville Cardinals won their opening matchup in the men’s college basketball Big East Conference Tournament in New York City.

The Cards defeated Providence 77-55 to advance to the semifinal round, where they’ll face Villanova Friday at 7:00pm.

Meanwhile, Kentucky will play Louisiana State Friday at 1:00pm in the quarterfinal round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Tampa. The Wildcats advanced with a 71-58 win over Mississippi.

Indiana was eliminated in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis, losing to Penn
State, 65-51.
