Nichols says the next step is to establish an outdoor team in the United Soccer League. USL is a tier below Major League Soccer, but Nichols says it’s an early step toward attracting a major league team.
Louisville Metro Councilman Ken Fleming wants to extend the city’s ethics law to encompass the Metropolitan Sewer District Board of Directors. A recent article in the Courier-Journal questioned the ethics of MSD using board members’ companies for contracts on which there was no competitive bidding.
Elected officials and veterans have been at odds over the best location for the hospital. Many Louisville officials want it to be downtown near other hospitals. Many veterans want it to replace the current hospital on Zorn Avenue, near the interstate. Still others have proposed splitting the inpatient and outpatient services, and putting one downtown and the other on Zorn Avenue. Yarmuth says the VA is considering those options, and looking into a few other sites around the county.

3rd District Representative John Yarmuth voted against the measure in part because he doesn’t like the way the issue has been handled. He says the measure was introduced on Tuesday afternoon and there was little debate before the vote.
Misha was born in Louisville on February 6, 2010; but a fight between other gorillas resulted in the loss of part of her left leg. She was moved to Columbus shortly afterwards. Zoo officials said at the time Misha would receive the best care at the Columbus Zoo.

The House passed a continuing resolution for three weeks to find a way to fund the government by the end of this fiscal year. Yarmuth says the coming weeks will focus almost exclusively on the budget in the interest of preventing a government shutdown.
