Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has appointed a new Public Service Commissioner to fill a spot that’s been vacant since December. Beshear’s office announced today that Linda Breathitt of Lexington is the newest commissioner.
Breathitt served as a PSC commissioner in the 1990s. After that, she became a senior energy and regulatory advisor at a Washington D.C. law firm, and was appointed as a commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
As one of Kentucky’s three Public Service Commissioners, Breathitt is charged with regulating the rates and services of the state’s utility companies. She is a University of Kentucky graduate and the daughter of the late Governor Edward T. “Ned” Breathitt.
