The Louisville Cards have advanced in the men’s NCAA basketball tournament with a 69-62 victory over Davidson yesterday in a West Region game in Portland, Oregon.

The Cards will face New Mexico Saturday.

U of L guard Peyton Siva says his team wasn’t haunted by memories of the past two tournaments, when the Cards lost in the opening round.

“Everbody was just focusing on Davidson today. Everybody really focused on defense…we watched a lot of film and tried to learn what they do inside and out,” Siva said.

At the KFC Yum Center, the Kentucky Wildcats defeated Western Kentucky 81-66. UK will take on Iowa State Saturday in Louisville. The Cyclones defeated defending champion Connecticut to advance to the Saturday round.

Murray State advanced with a 58-41 victory over Colorado State. The Racers face Marquette Saturday in Louisville.

Indiana defeated New Mexico State 79-66. The Hoosiers will take on Virginia Commonweath Saturday in Portland.
