Heavy Tornado Damage in Southern Indiana; System Continues Path Across Region

by Rick Howlett on March 2, 2012

Damage reports are beginning to come in from this afternoon’s outbreak of tornadoes in the region.

The heaviest damage appears to be in southern Indiana, where an official says the town of Marysville, in Clark County is “completely gone.’ There is also destruction reported in the Clark County community of Henryville.

In Kentucky, Trimble County authorities say a fire station near Bedford was destroyed by a tornado.

WFPL has a reporter en route to southern Indiana and will have more details as soon as they are available.

Tornado warnings were posted throughout the afternoon along the line of the storm.

Much of the region is under a tornado watch until 9:00pm Eastern time.
