The Indiana Supreme Court is asking for public comments on proposed new guidelines for parental visitation rights in divorce cases.
The guidelines were created to help judicial officers make decisions about the amount of time each parent spends with a child when they can’t agree on a visitation schedule.
Allen County Magistrate Craig Bobay serves on a judicial panel that will recommend the new guidelines to the high court.
He says the revisions will address conflicts that arise over holiday, weekend and overnight visits, and take into account relatively new breakthroughs in video communication.
“We’re trying to make them more clear for parents and attorneys and judges to understand and try to generally make them more child and family friendly,” he said.
The public comments will be accepted through March 26.
