Mayor Greg Fischer has appointed seven people to a special task force to examine the potential of collaboration or a merger between the Metropolitan Sewer District and Louisville Water Company.
After a state audit revealed extensive problems at MSD, Fischer cleaned house and appointed Louisville Water CEO Greg Heitzman interim executive director. At the time, he said he saw potential for collaboration between the agencies.
The members of the task force include former water company president John Huber, former Director of Jefferson County Public Works Wendell Wright, former State Representative Scott Brinkman, Hilliard Lyons chairman Pete Mahurin, Norton Vice President Al Cornish, Joe Wise of the Greater Louisville Building and Construction Trades Council and tax consultant Diane Cornwell.
The task force report is due to Mayor Fischer on April 25.
