City Once Again Offering Christmas Tree Recycling

by Erica Peterson on December 25, 2011

Once the holidays are over and the Christmas tree has been un-trimmed, those in the Urban Services District can leave the tree on the curb to be recycled along with other yard waste. But for those who want something more out of their tree, mayor’s spokeswoman Lindsay English says there’s another option.

“If you bring your tree to one of the three tree-cycling locations you can actually turned into fresh evergreen mulch to use at home in your yard right there on the spot,” she said.

The three locations are at the Recycling Center on Hubbards Lane, the Public Works Yard on Outer Loop and the Waste Reduction Center on Merriweather Avenue.

English says those interested are asked to bring a container in which to transport the mulch. The recycling centers will be accepting trees from December 27 to 29, and then again from January 3 through 6th. All are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
