This story has been updated from a previous report.

The two officers taken to U of L Hospital who were involved in a shooting in west Louisville have been upgraded to stable condition, said public information officer Carey Klain.

The shooter has been declared dead.

Police responded to reports of shots fired and approached a vehicle that matched the description. ¬†While on scene two officers were fired upon. A bullet grazed one officer’s face and damage caused by shattered glass injured both officers.

At this time the death is being called self-inflicting but the Louisville Metro Police Department is still investigating the event. Klain said police are searching for someone for questioning but who is not considered a suspect at this time.

Klain could not say whether either officer is likely to be released from the hospital Tuesday.
