Today on State of the News

by Laura Ellis on December 2, 2011

We’ll speak with WFPL’s staff about the latest metro news, and hear some of their interviews with this week’s Grawemeyer Award winners. Then we’ll hear an excerpt from last Thursday’s immigrant entrepreneur forum, held in our performance studio.

One of the members of the so-called Cornbread Mafia was pardoned this week. Kentucky native Les Berry, Jr. had served three years after being imprisoned for playing a bit part in what federal prosecutors described as one of the largest domestic marijuana syndicates in the country. We’ll speak with writer Jim Higdon about the story.

Then we’ll look ahead to college bowl season and the nascent college basketball season, with the Courier-Journal’s Eric Crawford.
