Louisville Orchestra musicians without a contract since May, multiple concerts cancelled, salvos fired by management and musicians, all with little to no progress made: it’s 2011, but we’ve been here before. And the longer each negotiation cycle goes on, the more one wonders about the level of community interest. Are passionate patrons and casual concert-goers paying attention and holding their interest, or do they fatigue of the long, drawn-out process and turn their attention – and ticket purchases – elsewhere?
We discussed those questions Friday on State of the News. Gabe Bullard spoke with host Rick Howlett about his conversations with Orchestra CEO Rob Birman and Musicians’ negotiating committee chair Kim Tichenor.
