Kentucky Court of Appeals Ruling on JCPS Student Assignment Plan

by Brad Yost on October 2, 2011

One of Friday’s big stories was the ruling handed down by the Kentucky Court of Appeals stating that students have the right to enroll and attend the school nearest their home. The suit was filed on behalf of 13 JCPS parents who say the district misinterprets the word enroll. In the opinion released, two judges agreed and one dissented.

Friday on WFPL’s State of the News program, reporter Devin Katayama explained some of the background and the significance and implications of the ruling, and what may be in store.

WFPL News will have more on this story and additional reaction on Monday.
