by Rick Howlett on August 24, 2011

An Indiana state lawmaker now says he was robbed by an 18-year-old man after the two allegedly met for a sexual rendezvous.

Republican Rep. Phil Hinkle of Indianapolis called his Aug. 6 meeting with Kameryn Gibson “stupid” but denied any wrongdoing in an interview yesterday.

Gibson told The Indianapolis Star that Hinkle exposed himself when they met at a hotel and then tried to buy his silence by offering him his iPad, Blackberry and $100.

Hinkle did not deny promising to pay Gibson pay up to $140 during their meeting but said Gibson robbed him. He said he did not file a police report on the advice of his lawyer.

House Speaker Brian Bosma has called for Hinkle to resign, saying he’s become a “distraction” and a “detriment” to the General Assembly.

Hinkle says he has no plans to step down, but won’t seek seek re-election next year.
