Former Councilman Considering Bid for State Legislature

by admin on August 22, 2011

Almost a year after becoming the first elected Louisville Metro Council member to lose his seat, former Councilman Doug Hawkins is mulling over a second run for the state legislature.

Last year, Hawkins lost a razor-thin contest against Councilman David Yates, D-25, in what was a nasty local race for the 25th District seat.

It’s been eight months since the outspoken south Louisville Republican left the council with an emotional farewell speech, but he appears eager to get back into public service.

From Pure Politics:

Three years ago Hawkins made an unsuccessful big to unseat state Sen. Perry Clark, D-Louisville, who has been embroiled in his own controversy after comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler.
