Taking advantage of Congress’s record low approval ratings, the campaign to re-elect Democratic Governor Steve Beshear chose to deride leaders in Washington, D.C. in their latest television ad.
The 30-second spot features President Barack Obama and members of Congress at various press conferences and meetings, claiming neither have led on the issues while praising Beshear’s handling of Kentucky’s budget and economy. Observers have already noted this is another example of the governor trying to distance himself from Mr. Obama, who remains woefully unpopular in the commonwealth.
“The mess in Washington has disappointed us all,” the ad says. “No leadership, just politics.”
