County Commissioner Districts Re-Drawn

by Dalton Main on July 18, 2011

The districts for Jefferson County Commissioners were redrawn today.

The commission unanimously approved a new map of its three districts based on data from the 2010 Census. The measure will now go before the Metro Council for final approval and the map of the districts will be available on the Metro Council website.

The County Commission has not had any power in the city since the 2003 city-county merger, when the Metro Council became the legislative body for the entire county.

The Metro Council districts will be redrawn later this year. That process has already begun.

The map at right has one precinct out of place, but once the error is corrected the Commission will post the finished map on the Metro Council website.
