by Rick Howlett on May 27, 2011

The Jefferson County Board of Education is moving closer to hiring a new superintendent.

Board chair Steve Imhoff says the five semi-finalists for the job were interviewed today.

“On June 1, which is next Wednesday, our board will decide which two or three candidates we will invite to Louisville to come and meetthe public,” he said.

The names of the five semifinalists have not been disclosed. Imhoff says he’s confident a new superintendent will be chosen from the group.

The board will also appoint an interim superintendent at the Wednesday meeting to oversee the district until a permanent leader is in place.

Current Superintendent Sheldon Berman’s contract was not renewed by the board. Its expires June 30. Berman has accepted a superintendent’s job in Eugene, Oregon.
