Today Is Primary Election Day In Indiana

by Rick Howlett on May 3, 2011

Turnout is expected to be low in many areas today as Indiana voters go to the polls to select nominees for municipal offices.

There are contested races in the Democratic primaries for mayor of Jeffersonville and New Albany. Several council seats are up for election in Jeffersonville and Clarksville.
The Democratic challenger to Republican Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard will be picked, and there are open mayoral seats in Evansville, South Bend and Gary. The current mayors in those cities aren’t seeking re-election.

Polls open at 6:00am and close at 6:00pm. Anyone in line at closing time will be allowed to cast a ballot.

Additional election information can be found at the Secretary of State’s website.
