President Reschedules Trip to Indiana

by Gabe Bullard on May 1, 2011

President Barack Obama will visit Indianapolis this week.

The President originally planned to visit last month, but canceled the trip due to negotiations on the federal budget. Mr. Obama will be in Indianapolis Friday to visit Allison Transmission and discuss oil prices and energy policy.

The visit is not a campaign stop, but it does come at a time when Indiana is at the center of 2012 speculation. Governor Mitch Daniels is soon expected to announce whether he’ll seek the GOP nomination for President. Daniels has also made national headlines for his support of two controversial bills that recently passed the Indiana General Assembly. One would pull government funding for Planned Parenthood and the other enacts sweeping education reforms.
