Ammonia Leak Detected Inside JBS Plant

One building at the JBS Swift meat-packing plant in Butchertown has been evacuated following an ammonia leak this morning.

The leak was detected shortly before 11:30 this morning. Police, fire and emergency management crews are on the scene determining the cause and scale of the leak.

No injuries have been reported. Some streets around the plant may be blocked by emergency vehicles.
