NCAA: UK Advances To Sweet 16; Morehead State Eliminated

The Kentucky Wildcats defeated West Virginia 71-63 today to advance to the Sweet 16 round of the men’s NCAA tournament.

Led by Brandon Knight’s 30 points, UK overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to eliminate the Mountaineers in an East Regional third round game in Tampa, Florida.

Kentucky will take on the winner of Sunday’s Ohio State-George Mason game in the regional semifinals in Newark, N.J on Friday.

Morehead State’s NCAA run came to an end this evening in Denver. The Eagles fell to Richmond 65-48.

In the women’s NCAA Tournament, Kentucky defeated Hampton 66-62 to advance to a second round matchup against North Carolina Monday in Albuquerque, N.M.

Louisville opens tournament play Sunday in Cincinnati, where the Cards will face Vanderbilt. Tipoff is 12:10pm.
