UofL Students in Japan Safe Following Tsunami

by Gabe Bullard on March 11, 2011

Three University of Louisville students studying abroad in Japan are reportedly safe following the devastating earthquake and tsunami.

The students are studying several miles south of the hardest-hit areas. The two closest are in Osaka. Virginia Hosono is the head of U of L’s study abroad program. She says she’s spoken with the students’ dean.

“He says right now, everything is fine and it’s pretty much business as usual;” reports Hosono “he did warn the students to stay away from the coast and to not go up to Tokyo for any reason.”

Hosono says the students will remain in Japan.
