Louisville Bach Society To Fold

by Rick Howlett on March 9, 2011

Faced with declining revenues and the retirement of its founders, the 47-year-old Louisville Bach Society will cease operations at the end of its current season.

The non-profit choral and orchestral group performs the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and other composers, and conducts outreach programs throughout the region.

It was founded in 1964 by Melvin and Margaret Dickinson.

Business First reports that the society has seen declining revenues over the past three fiscal years amid a difficult economy for arts groups.

It will close out the season May 1st with a performance of Bach’s Mass in B Minor at Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church.
