Bayh Rules Out Gubernatorial Bid

by Gabe Bullard on December 12, 2010

Indiana Senator Evan Bayh says he will not run for governor of his home state in 2012.

The announcement comes amidst heavy speculation that Bayh was plotting a return to the office. He served two terms as Governor of Indiana before running for the Senate in 1998. Bayh decided not to seek a third term in the Senate earlier this year.

Bayh announced this weekend that he will remain politically active, but does not yet wish to hold office again.

Bayh will be replaced in the Senate by Republican Dan Coats, who held the office before Bayh.
