Documentary To Be Screened At Clifton Center

A new documentary focusing on the health and well being of school children across the country will be screened in Louisville Monday.

The film titled “Race to Nowhere” was produced by a California mother who says her children’s health was being jeopardized because of the school-related stress they were under.

Local event organizer Susan Pringle says there’s a lot pressure for kids to perform.

“It seems like there is, in this achievement kind of culture that we’re in right now, there’s a real tendency for kids to be over committed and there’s I think real importance placed right now on the kind of volunteer activities they’re involved in, extra curricular activities and then how they’re scoring on the standardized tests,” she said.

The screening will be at 7:00pm Monday at the Clifton Center. Following the film will be a discussion with local educators and parents.
