Early Voting Begins In Jefferson County

by Rick Howlett on September 20, 2010

Early voting begins today in Jefferson County.

County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw says early voting is for those who will be out of the county on Election Day.

“That also maybe covers students who reside outside of the county, voters who are members of Armed Forces or a dependent of a member of the Armed Forces.  We have voters who are residing overseas.  We have voters or spouses of voters who possible have surgery scheduled that day,” she said.

Holsclaw says typically there are several thousand people who vote early, either in person or by paper absentee ballot.   Early voting hours will be 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday at the Urban Government Building at 810 Barret Ave.

I early voted in 2006 and they called me to make sure it was legitimate. Made me feel special.
