GOP Chief Criticizes Conway Campaign Travel

The head of the Republican Party of Kentucky is criticizing Democratic U-S Senate nominee Jack Conway. Steve Robertson says Conway is traveling the country, raising campaign cash in at least 15 cities, while receiving his salary as attorney general.

He says Conway should reimburse taxpayers.

“I think it is absolutely appropriate where taxpayers are demanding accountability from government. Jack Conway is not going to be in his office doing his job and he doesn’t deserve the pay that he is receiving,” he said.

Allison Haley of the Conway campaign says the attorney general is protecting Kentucky families 24 hours a day, seven days a week. She says Robertson is just trying to deflect attention away from Republican nominee Rand Paul’s recent claims that drug abuse in Kentucky is not a ‘real pressing issue.’
