In March, Louisville officials announced a weight loss program for citizens. But with about two months left in the program, it’s falling well short of its goal.
Mayor Jerry Abramson and health department director Dr. Adewale Troutman kicked off the Lose It Louisville program in March. Troutman says the program works better if a lot of people take part.
“We’re not looking for dramatic weight reduction in any one person, but as a community, the calculations are that we are targeting 100-thousand pounds by Labor Day,” says Troutman, “which breaks down to ten-thousand people, ten pounds per person.”
But so far, only one-thousand people have signed up for the program.
Troutman pledged to lose 35 pounds for the campaign. He says so far he’s lost eight pounds.
