Officials Plan Museum Plaza Announcement

by Rick Howlett on June 24, 2010

Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson, Governor Steve Beshear and others have scheduled a press conference for Friday morning for an announcement regarding the long-delayed Museum Plaza project along the Ohio River.

Ground was broken for the 62-story skyscraper complex in late 2007, but the more than $450 million project ran into financing problems with the onset of the recession and has been on hold since.

Developers Steve Wilson, Laura Lee Brown, Steve Poe and Craig Greenburg have said the complex at 7th and Main Streets will include a mix of upscale housing, commercial and retail development and would be the new home of the University of Louisville’s Master of Fine Arts program.

Wilson is scheduled to participate in Friday’s press conference.
