The 3rd Annual Flags4Vets event will be held this Memorial Day weekend at Waterfront Park.

Hundreds of volunteers will put up 25,000 American flags spelling out USA. The flags represent veteran graves and will take up hundreds of feet on the Great Lawn.

Flags4Vets Director Fred Moore says the event extends beyond Louisville.

“To buy thousands of flags for this memorial day vigil and then immediately after it we start sending these flags across the country to cemeteries, last year we sent flags to cemeteries in 17 states. And our goal is to eventually buy all the flags for the entire nation,” he said.

The event is open to the public.
