Police officers from across the country came to Lexington Tuesday for the funeral of a fallen city officer.

Twenty-seven year old Officer Bryan Durman was killed by a hit and run driver last week while investigating a complaint about loud music.

Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry was among those who paid tribute to Durman, saying much of what police officers endure daily goes unnoticed.

“They deal with problems we don’t even like to think about and they do it remarkably well it is incredible how many very difficult challenges the police department deals with on a daily basis that never make the news,” he said.

The driver of the vehicle, 33 year old Glenn Doneghy,  is charged with murder and other offenses.
