University of Kentucky basketball star John Wall says he’s ready to move on to the National Basketball Association.

Wall (pictured with UK Coach John Calipari) says he thought about returning to Lexington for his sophomore season and vying for an NCAA title, but doesn’t want to risk ruining his professional career with an injury.

“It’s no guarantee, you never know what can happen for next year. I just felt like it was an opportunity to go, after i talked to my family and my coaching staff, and they said it was time to go,” he said Thursday.

Wall led the Wildcats to a 35-3 record during his single season in Lexington.

UK fell toWest Virginia in the regional finals of the NCAA tournament.

Wall is predicted by many to be the number one pick in the upcoming NBA draft. He’s among five Kentucky players to declare for the draft.
