A small plane with one person crashed Tuesday night at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

Authorities say the plane went down about 8:30pm. The pilot, Allen Harvey Friedlander of Michigan,  was taken to University Hospital, where he is in stable condition.     Friedlander had been granted permission to make an emergency landing at Louisville International Airport, but crashed before he reached the runway.

A witness who said he lives in the Germantown neighborhood tells the Courier-Journal that the plane was making a sputtering noise as it flew low over his house.
