Crews in Louisville are preparing for a drop in temperatures this afternoon.
As snow is cleared from the roads, many routes remain wet. To prevent more freezing, crews are spreading calcium chloride salt, which melts ice at lower temperatures.
Mayor Jerry Abramson says crews handled the morning snowfall well, but they will remain vigilant for freezing tonight and tomorrow morning.
“The concern we have—and it’s a legitimate concern—is what happens when the temperature drops,” he says. “And that’s what we’re working toward now to get as much of that calcium chloride salt down as possible.”
Abramson says crews will remain on duty around the clock.
