On April 25, 1945, the United Nations Conference on International Organization began in San Francisco, marking what would be the beginning of the United Nations. The UN’s founders hoped the organization’s existence would minimize conflicts between countries, and prevent future wars, but they’re also involved in issues like human rights, economic development, decolonization, health and education.
