Tickets are now on sale for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, which means the event is just a year away.
Officials celebrated the countdown today in Lexington. World Equestrian Games Foundation CEO Jamie Link was among them.
“One year from today, the world is coming to Kentucky,” said Link. “Thousands of people are, at this very moment, purchasing tickets and planning to be here for the world’s most prestigious equestrian competition when it comes to America in just 364 more days.”
Construction projects in preparation for the 15-day event include a $40-million indoor arena, a $25-million outdoor stadium and $13-million in road construction around the Kentucky Horse Park.
The event is the world championships in several equestrian disciplines, and is considered a pre-cursor to the Olympics.
Thanks to WUKY for sound from the event.
