Former Kentucky Lt. Governor Steve Pence says he won’t be a candidate for Louisville mayor in 2010.
Pence had been considering seeking the Republican nomination for the office, but has decided to continue with his private law practice.
No other Republicans have formally announced for the office. Metro Councilman Hal Heiner says he’ll make a decision on running for mayor later this month. Developer Chris Theineman told the Louisville Eccentric Observer today that he intends to enter the race.
Three Democrats have declared their candidacies: Metro Council President David Tandy, Metro Councilman Jim King and businessman Greg Fischer.
Current Mayor Jerry Abramson won’t seek a final term in order to run for Lt. Governor in 2011.
